Live On the Green, a free, public concert series held at Public Square in front of the Metro Courthouse, runs every Thursday from 09/08-10/13. The six-week concert series is produced by Tuned In Broadcasting, Inc. in partnership with the Nashville Mayor’s Office.

Each night will consist of 4 performances with the first starting around 5:30 pm and the Headliner wrapping up around 10:30 pm.

Live On the Green is engaged in a number of carbon-offset efforts, including recycling; using reusable, sustainable and biodegradable materials; encouraging alternate modes of transportation; offering organic merchandising and free drinking–water stations; engaging participants with green initiatives and using energy-efficient lighting and sound. Public Square Park, where the series is held, is a green roof that sits atop a five-level subterranean parking garage with a rainwater collection system.

Final group of designers for Nashville Fashion Week announced, including six local Nashville designers and Thursday headliner Christian Siriano

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (March 14, 2011)—Lexus Nashville Fashion Week announces the final group of designers who will show collections in runway shows, March 29–April 2, 2011. Throughout the week, shows will feature a total of 25 different designers (five each night), including Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway’s fourth season, who has shown six collections at New York Fashion Week.

The newly announced group includes six Nashville based designers, as well as T. Raines (formerly of Heatherette) and Aman Stovall. Nashville-based designers include Coquette, Jamie and the Jones, Melissa Tabor, Olia Zavozina, Valentine Valentine and White Rabbit.

In addition, Christian Siriano will headline Lexus Nashville Fashion Week’s Thursday runway shows at the Crystal Fountain Church in historic East Nashville. Just 25 years old, Siriano is quickly building both a luxury brand and a name for himself in the fashion community. He has shown six collections at New York Fashion Week, and his work has been worn by everyone from Rihanna to Christina Hendricks. He is Payless’ top selling collaboration, and his collection is sold at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue and internationally from Russia to Dubai. Siriano was the youngest winner of the hit series, Project Runway, in its fourth season.

Previously announced designers include: Akiko, Ben Sherman, Betsey Johnson, Cooper by Courtney Warren, Gado Gado, Gustavo Cadile, Julianna Bass, Katharine Kidd, Kevork Kiledjian, Leona Collection, Loretta Jane, Norma Clare, Robert Graham, Steven OO, Sylvia Heisel and Unioin of Angels.

Nashville Fashion Week’s five nights of runway shows will take place in some of the city’s most historic, landmark and unique venues. In selecting locations, organizers sought places that would showcase the city’s diverse and distinctive venues and provide Nashville Fashion Week guests with opportunities to see these places in creative, new ways.

In 1977 Stevie Ray Vaughan formed the band Double Trouble, with whom he made four successful studio albums and established a reputation as one of the foremost blues guitarists in the world. It’s been 20 years since the passing of this great bluesman. To commemorate this and the man who is quite simply one of the greatest singers, songwriters, and guitar players ever former Double Trouble keyboard player REESE WYNANS has assembled the DOUBLE TROUBLE band. All of the talent includes Reese Wynans, Tommy Shannon, and Chris Layton with Kenny Greenberg, Mike Henderson, Jack Pearson, Pat Buchanan, Mike Farris, Tom Britt, Gary Nicholson, Jonell Mosser, Ashley Cleveland, Bart Walker, and more.

PLUS, it lands smack in the middle of 3NL’s 20 Year Anniversary which includes 10 days, 20 shows, and artists like Citizen Cope (solo), JJ Grey (solo), Will Hoge, and more!

Who needs to go to Cannes or Sundance? Next month, local film lovers will get the chance to see fabulous cinematic efforts right here at home, including top winners from both of those festivals.

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives won the Palme d’Or, the highest honor awarded at Cannes. Buck and Kinyarwanda both won audience awards at Sundance. And Nashville Film Festival artistic director Brian Owens said that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what’s on tap at this year’s festival.

“I’ve almost shed tears about the ones we had to cut,” he said. “We just ran out of room.”

Owens said the selection process this year was wrenching, starting with a festival record of 2,403 entries from 102 countries and cutting to the more than 200 that will be screened at the festival.

Today, festival officials are announcing the bulk of the lineup for this year’s NFF, which runs April 14-21 at Regal Green Hills Cinemas. (Short films and special presentations will be announced in the next few weeks.)

Among Owens’ favorites this year are Bloodworth — a reworked and renamed version of Province of Night, which screened at last year’s festival — starring Kris Kristofferson, Val Kilmer, Dwight Yoakam and Hilary Duff, and How to Grow a Band, whichfollows former Nickel Creek member Chris Thile’s new group, Punch Brothers, as they embark on their first concert tour.

Both of those films boast Tennessee connections. Bloodworth is based on a novel by Tennessean William Gay about a family from East Tennessee and stars former Nashville residents Yoakam and Kristofferson, who is expected to attend the festival. Thile is another former Nashvillian.

Beyond those two standouts, Tennessee is well-represented at this year’s festival. Septien, a dysfunctional family drama, was shot entirely in and around Nashville. Jess + Moss, a memory piece about two second cousins who have grown up spending their summers together, was directed by Clay Jeter, who is from Clarksville. (Jeter was able to finish making the movie with $3,000 he won last year for best narrative short film.)

However, Owens said the wealth of Tennessee-centric movies has nothing to do with the selection committee being partial. “It’s just a great confluence of talent and timing,” he said.

Never has there been a more appropriate holiday for H-Beam to celebrate than April Fool’s Day, and this year, Nashville’s Rock Weirdos are putting a stamp on it. H-Beam presents the Inaugural “All Fools Revue” which will take place at The 5 Spot on April 1st, alongside the wacky Justin Kalk Orchestra. Over the past six years, H-Beam has come across a wide variety of odd and epic talent in many shapes and forms and now it’s time to showcase it. Characters and musicians, songs and skits, old and new in a obscene performance. From the makers of Halloweeno Nintendo, H-Beam’s Lebowski Night, Jane & Jane the Rock Opera, 3D CD Release Shows, and giant moustaches, H-Beam’s “All Fools Revue” will be the start to a historically ridiculous tradition.

This show also features live music from Roy Jay Band.

UPDATE FROM DREAMSPIDER PUBLICITY: Donna the Buffalo is on for a great weekend heading through Nashville, Greensboro, and Asheville.
